Blessed Sacrament utilizes traditional methods of assessing student performance throughout the year, as well as taking the Iowa Assessments annually. Unlike the EOGs, which are specific to the state of North Carolina, the Iowa Assessments is used nationally by public, private, and parochial schools, allowing BSS to assess school performance on a higher level.
In addition to standardized testing and report cards, teachers use mid-term reports, phone calls, and parent/teacher conferences to keep parents informed of academic progress. Parents are encouraged to keep lines of communication open with the teacher and principal, as individual student needs arise. The administration and faculty welcome the involvement of each family in the school and encourage a personal relationship between all members of the school community.
Students at BSS also take the North Carolina Writing exam in grades 4 and 7, and 8th graders take the Algebra exam.
