Pastor, Blessed Sacrament Catholic Community
Prior to being assigned as the Pastor of Blessed Sacrament Church, Friar Paul was the Pastor at the Franciscan Church of St. Bonaventure, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. From 2005 to 2011, he served for six years as the Executive Director of the Conference of Major Superiors of Men (CMSM).
Fr. Paul has served on the faculties of several universities and colleges, including the famous Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in the Department of Medical Psychiatry, Baltimore, Maryland. He oversaw a number of research projects conduct by Johns Hopkins University. In addition to many varied ministries, Fr. Paul has served
as the post-novitiate formation director for his Conventual Franciscan Community in Washington, DC.
Fr. Paul holds a Doctorate and several Masters’ Degrees in Psychology and Counseling from Loyola University as well as Masters of Divinity and a Masters of Theology form St. Anthony-on-Hudson in conjunction with New York State University. Likewise, he holds several undergraduate degrees from various universities. He joined the Order of Friars Minor Conventual in the 70’s and was ordained in 1981.
Maria Gomez has worked in Catholic education for thirty-four years. She attained her degree from Elon and she is certified to teach middle and high school Science and Social Studies. She taught for eight years in the Archdiocese of New York City before returning to North Carolina and began teaching at Blessed Sacrament School in 1986.
In 1991, Maria was selected Alamance County Teacher of The Year for Independent Schools. In 2006, she was the recipient of the Msgr. Gerald Lewis Award for Outstanding Teacher of the Year for the Diocese of Raleigh. Also in 2006, Maria completed her Master’s in Administration and Supervision from the University of Phoenix.
Maria embarks on her twenty-seventh year of BSS as the new Principal. In her new role, she will still continue making a difference in the lives of our students, because she believes that any child that walks into our school, walks into her life.
|Tiffany Schwartz Ehmig
Assistant Principal/STEM Coordinator
Born and raised in New Jersey, Tiffany Ehmig received a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Scranton with a double major in Mathematics and Education with a minor in Spanish. In 2002 she received a Master’s Degree in Education with a concentration in school counseling at William Paterson University. After 11 years in the NJ educational system as a teacher and high school counselor, Mrs. Ehmig and her family relocated to North Carolina. Mrs. Ehmig has been a part of the Blessed Sacrament School faculty since 2009. In the Spring of 2015 Mrs. Ehmig graduated from the Post-Master's Program in School Administration at The University of North Carolina Greensboro and now holds a North Carolina Principal's License.

Mrs. Hackman holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Writing from West Virginia Wesleyan College in Buckhannon, WV and a Master's in Education (focus on 6th-12th grade English) from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, MA.
Mrs. Hackman taught high school English at Cathedral High School in Springfield, MA for two years. After a move to Chapel Hill, NC she entered into a 10 year career in the Hospitality Industry where ehr most recent position was Director of Sales & Marketing at the Four Diamond Siena Hotel & Il Palio Ristorante.
The Director of Admissions and Advancement position is the perfect combination of Mrs. Hackman's education and sales/marketing background. She has been a member of the staff since 2012 and has one child who attends Blessed Sacrament School.
Student Support Teacher, Knights Learning Center
In the office, you'll find Pat Libera with a warm welcoming smile! She has worked in the classroom for over 23 years. Mrs. Libera began her career at Immaculata School in Durham where she helped pilot, direct and teach their preschool program. She joined the BSS staff in 2002 and has spent the last 10 years as our Kindergarten Assistant. Mrs. Libera's children are all alumni of Blessed Sacrament School.
